Oops!

Whew! That was a close one! We nearly had a shipping disaster on our hands!  But never fear, Genevieve has remedied the situation! I do hope the OLD shipping prices on the newly opened Drawn2Shoppe haven’t driven any of you away!

The first order came through (yay!) for multiple Genevieve items, and when all was calculated, the shipping cost was going to be $18+ dollars for it all!  Yikes!

Thankfully, the customer kindly emailed me to say, “is this right?” Certainly not!  The problem was how I interpreted Etsy’s wording on how much to charge for multiple purchases.  I had carefully calculated all possibilities at my local Post Office, coming up with just the right amount for someone who purchased only one set of cards, or one print, two sets of cards, two prints, a print and a set of cards, etc.  So I put these amounts in.  Well, that was NOT how Etsy calculates the shipping amounts.  Now that I understand how it all works, my first customer is only paying $4.75 (as opposed to $18+).  Here’s how all her goodies look ready to be packaged in its sturdy envelope:

***Please remember that you have until this Friday, June 24th to enter your name in the drawing for two FREE Genevieve items.  Click here to see which two are being given away.  Just leave a comment here or on FB, retweet this or email friends and your name will be entered. Thank you to ALL who have tweeted, facebooked, emailed and phoned friends about Genevieve and her new Etsy Shoppe.  I so appreciate it! You are all just terrific!

Cards & Prints

created by Jennifer Edwards

COME ON IN AND BROWSE AROUND!

Some time ago, I posted here about a childhood dream I had of jumping off a balcony and sprouting wings…

This blog and Etsy shop is just one of the ways I’m flying these days!  So glad to offer you prints & cards of Genevieve for you to enjoy!

In celebration of Opening Day, Genevieve is offering TWO giveaways!  Yes, you heard that right, TWO giveaways to two lucky people who post a comment here on this blog or on Facebook.  The first giveaway is a 5 x 7 print of “Balancing Life”.  Here’s what it looks like:

The second giveaway is a set of cards with  “Happy Day” and “Sun Shines for Thee”.  Here’s what these cards look like, packaged and all! Please note the “To:    From:   ” section on the back of the topper.  Each set of cards comes ready to be given as a gift, if you like.

BUT!  There is a catch!  Not a difficult one, though.  I’d like for you to let as many people as you can, know about Genevieve and her new shop.  You could re-post my Facebook post to all your FB friends.  Or you could re-tweet my tweet.  Or email your friends and family.  Use whatever social media or mail you’d like.  Genevieve would be so grateful for your support in helping her advertise the opening of her new shop!  Then leave your name in the comment section saying how you were able to tell others.  Your name will be entered in the hat for BOTH drawings!!

**BE SURE to tell any knitters & crocheters you know, about the prints and set of cards featuring Genevieve knitting & crocheting! Click here to see them in the shop!

I will draw two names NEXT FRIDAY, June 24th.  So check back to see if you’ve won!

A very huge Thank You to all who have encouraged me in this venture!

Which Would U Choose?

8 Jun OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

If you could have a Genevieve print, either for purchase OR to win in a drawing, which one would you choose?  I’d dearly love to know if you have a top choice or two from these four images.  And, if YOUR favorite isn’t here, which one would you like?  I’m getting my Etsy shop up and running, stocked with a print or two to start and a set of cards to offer.  Plans are in the works for gift tags, a calendar, etc.

Make your “VOTE” in the comments section.  You can indicate your favorite by the numbers 1-4 listed beside each image.  Or describe what your favorite one is from other blog posts.  Feel free to say whether you would prefer these in cards, prints, or both?  My plan is to make the prints in a 5 x 7 format for easy framing, and the cards will be 5.5″x 4.25″.

Handmade items will be put in the shop at a later date…be on the lookout!

The above, Oh Happy Day!, is #1.

Armsfull, is #2.

Sun shines for you!, is #3.  (with better cropping!)

Balancing Life, is #4.

Drawn2Mountains

2 Jun OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Whenever Genevieve travels to the mountains to visit her parents and siblings, she’s stunned by the beauty of the mountains.  She reminisces about her childhood summers spent on the catwalk, being Tom Carter’s daughter, dancing in colonial costumes, garden parties, indians, and “Ham, beans, corn, greens, sweet huckleberry pie…”  Oh, the ache.  A good one, but nevertheless a wistful haunting of simpler days, brief mountain showers, and living a creative life.  Even the Texas dirt doesn’t seem as yucky as it once was to put on each evening.  I LOVE that I have these memories.

The mountains hold them for me.  So does my husband and family.

P.S.  I grew up, every summer, on the stage of Horn in the West, in Boone, NC.  My father, Ed Pilkington, directed the outdoor drama for 20+ years.

This quote is taken from the opening lines of the play.

In the evening West, beyond the last mountain peak,

slowly dies the sun in a sea of bronze and crimson.

In its setting is the majestic assurance

that tomorrow will rise,

that a new day will dawn.

Always the hopes and dreams of mankind

lie not in the East,

but in the fiery land of the sunset.

The gaze of man is westward

as if he could glimpse,

somewhere beyond the great golden reaches of Eternity–

as though he could hear, blowing in the distant sunset,

the Horn of Freedom.

Tah-Dah!

26 May OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hmmm…not sure the spelling is right on this! Ha! Ha! But oh well! Fun to draw anyways and you get the point, I think:)

Genevieve is showing off her latest knitted booties.  These are made from a pattern by Susan B. Anderson whose blogs,  I Just Want to Knit and  Spud & Chloe, are wonderful for those who like to knit.  There are tons of free patterns on these blogs, of which this one, titled Page 81 Booties is found in the left-hand margin on this blog.  The really cool thing about these booties, is that they’re made of only two little squares!  (Susan uses three squares for added stiffness, but I didn’t feel mine needed that.)  They involve a simple fold or two, sewing them together, and then embellishing with whatever you’d like on top.  Genevieve is already on to her second pair of them…you never know when you need a pair for a gift!

AND…Genevieve also wonders what you’ve been up to lately…any “ta(h)-dah’s” for you?  Wouldn’t it be fun if we started a chain reaction of Ta(h)-Dah’s across the blogosphere ?  If you post a “ta(h)-dah”, send me a link to it…I’d surely love to cheer along with you!
